Blog Post Sample: How to Set Effective SMART Goals

The beginning of a new year is when you all break out the promises to lose weight, balance your budget, and wear makeup every day. Dreams seem within your reach that last month felt like a long shot. New routines are established with the best of intentions. Lists are made. Planners are started. Life is good.
Then, a month or so in, your daughter starts ballet three days a week, your son has tutor appointments on the other two evenings, and the morning carpool takes precedence over the gym. You look at that list of goals you happily jotted down in a brand-new spiral notebook with an inspirational saying on the cover. Not one is checked off. You wonder why you bother.
The reason you haven’t made any progress is because your goals aren’t goals. They are dreams masquerading as goals. Without a plan to achieve your goals, they remain just out of reach. What you need now is a plan. SMART goals are the most effective way to make that plan and to achieve your goals.
I’m sure this isn’t your first introduction to SMART goals. They seem to be everywhere right now. Every motivational email will talk about them. At first, I thought they were just an overrated fad. I scoffed and went about making my tried and true (yet never finished) to-do lists. Then, one day, I got tired of staring at my unfinished to-do lists and decided to apply the SMART formula to my most cherished goal. The one that has been at the top of my list since I was a teenager. My weight loss goal. I figured it couldn’t hurt. Nothing else had worked, so what did I have to lose?

Hi! I’m so glad you decided to join me on my journey! I’m Kasey, a toddler mom, a wife, a home health nurse, and a woman on a mission to help you lose the extra pounds you need to get gone by sharing my own journey to do the same. I’m the beta mode of a weight loss plan that will help you meet your goals of living healthier and happier through sustainable life changes. Here is a little of my story so you can see what I mean.
Almost a year ago, in December 2017, I started down a path to lose a lot of weight. My goal: lose 130 pounds. My objective: lose every pound slowly and sustainably. I spent some time thinking about it but mostly I just jumped in head first. Things cruised along smoothly the way they can when the project is new, but soon I began to lag behind my goals. To combat that slump, I started consciously applying small changes into my life. My life began to change in much bigger ways than those small steps seemed to add up to. I had more energy. I could bend all the way over without losing my breath. I could chase my toddler across the living room, scoop him up, and gallop down the hallway while he laughed in delight. The pounds have dropped slowly as well, although there has been some wavering.
A few months into all of these changes, I decided to help other women like myself lose that large amount of weight they needed to as well. I want to share my successes and failures with you so that you don’t have to hit the same pot holes I have. I will share my insights, inspirations, and failures. If you have any questions, I will answer any and everything I can, and if I can’t, I’ll help you find out where to get the answer. Feel free to hit reply at any time with those questions or any comments or concerns you might have. We are in this together and we are totally going to rock it!
      Talk to you soon!

About Me sample

Hi everyone!I’m Kasey and this is my personal blog dedicated to the brave choices we both are making. Our goals are similar. Love ourselves. Make good choices for ourselves so we have more to give to our families. Enjoy our time on this planet. I’ve always loved writing, and recently gave in to the urge to channel that impulse into a blog that will improve my life and the lives of people in need of motivation, ideas, and like-minded friendships. The other reason, a definite second, is to supplement my family’s income to cover the extra expenses life likes to throw our way.
